We have had a busy week as more modifications continue with the competition robot and the team starts building a second robot. We are also happy to announce our Open House at the shop on February 25. During the Open House family and friends are welcome to come to our shop and see our robot and everything that our students have worked on. We cannot wait to see everyone
Drive Base & Climb
The drive base team has continued working on the climber with assembling and making iterations based on any problems they found during testing. The team has also been working on polycarb plates that are to protect the electronics from coral that could fall on top of them. The belly pan was changed by adding a hole to easily access the motors. They have also made an insert to fill the hole so that the belly pan can be attached with zip ties.

Acender
During testing a tragedy happened as the elevator had broken while trying to score in the coral reef on L4. As a result the team not only had to fix the programming had to tune the distance for the elevator while fully extending. Programmers also worked on creating better setpoints for the coral scorer so that it was more accurate and to shorten the time it took to score.

Game Piece Manipulator
Programmers adjusted the sensor lengths and belt speed to be able to feed the coral into the birdfeeder (scoring mech). A new intake was built for the competition robot and the current intake was moved to a secondary robot. Changes made to the intake were adding a 3D printed piece for an algae sensor. Wheels were also switched out in order to create less friction. The last change made was a polycarb guard plate to hold coral while also protecting the sensors.

Kitbot
The kitbot team has continued their progress in CAD making drawings of churro bits that were cleaned up in the program, and motor plates that were then laser cutted. The team has also started to work on cutting holes for assembling the motor plate. While CAD for small parts and drawings, the CAD for the actual robot was also worked on in order to fix any weird mate connectors and constraints. The next thing that the kitbot team plans to work on is to fix more mate connectors aligning two plates that were off, then to finish off with making a drawing for the support bars that the plates are attached to.

As competition is getting closer and closer the robot goes through more testing, we are looking forward to seeing y’all at our Open House on February 25th so everyone can see first hand how our robot is doing on the field. With iterations being done in CAD and programming working on the robots performance, we cannot wait for competition and we hope to see y’all there!
