Build Season Week 7

With the competition robot being finalized the second robot has been started, now having a drive base with swerve drive and full electronics wired. The ascender team and the game piece manipulator team have really focused on programming to tweak and make any small changes that improve the robots performance. The kitbot team has been working on their robot mainly with attaching new parts for scoring.

With the drivebase for the competition robot complete the second robot has been started with a swerve drive attached and wiring being done. Electronic panels have been added to the drivebase and wiring was started then finished during the week. Now for programming the odometry was tested with an accuracy of about 2 inches. Programming also needed the drivebase to be re-tuned to use FOC instead of voltage. The limelight was added to the main competition robot and all that’s left for that is setting it up in code. With all of that the drivebase team also continues to work on the climber.

Like drivebase the motors are using FOC for more control and torque at a lower power. The lasercan was moved away from the edge of the robot so that there is more time to catch the game piece in programming. This was done because before the game piece was moving too fast for the sensor to catch it with what refresh rate it was set at. The CAD was overall updated to match up with the changes that were already made on the robot. While wiring is completed there is one wire that was added to the elevator, however it is most likely going to be replaced after each competition.

While lots of testing and tweaking is going on the intake arm was also re-tuned to use FOC instead of voltage. Programming really got to work to get the coral centering working on the intake and getting the handoff with the state machine logic working. After driving and testing on the field the robot is now able to score algae into the processor YAY! This makes it possible to eventually get coopertition points with other teams during matches if we are able to score two algae in the processor along with our competitors.

The kitbot team has been working on lots of assembly on the kitbot starting with attaching the arms on the algae manipulator along with the motors. Next week the team is also planning on attaching another motor along with more rollers to the game piece manipulator on the kitbot which will make it easier to control the game piece. Outside of working on the kitbot, programming has been working on auton that will be tested out on the field.

With competition just a week away and our Open House on Tuesday we are so excited to be able to show everyone what all of the students have been working on. We will continue to keep updates every week as build season moves forward.
